Do police auxiliary officers have the same authority as regular police officers?

Our police auxiliary officers are given a level of authority similar to regular police officers, however, we DO NOT perform ALL of the duties a Connellsville Police Department officer would be tasked with. Many of our duties assist the Connellsville Police Department (CPD) in furthering their investigation if a crime is committed in our presence. For example, our use of force policy states we have the authority to detain an individual if a suspected crime has been committed, while the investigating officer of the CPD further determines if the suspect involved is to be placed under arrest. Our police auxiliary officers aim to deter disruptive behavior and aggressive driving at events while providing security to enhance the overall safety of everyone in attendance.
